Mato Grosso
Mato Grosso is a state in Brazil located in the west of the country. It is the third largest region of Brazil. The population of Mato Grosso is estimated at about 2,9mln people. It can boast of its unique nature with mountains, lots of caves, waterfalls, cliffs and canyons. The key element of economy in Mato Grosso is agriculture. It covers almost 41% of the GDP of the state. Services are practically at the same level as agriculture, but industries are not developed. The main items of export are soybeans, wood, meat and cotton.
As Mato Grosso is a magnificent example of ancient nature it preserved several wonderful attractions that must be visited. One of the most popular tourist destinations in Mato Grosso is the Paraguay River with the Pantanal. Pantanal is a great flood that lasts from October till April. When the huge Paraguay River floods, there is a possibility of making an unforgettable boat trip along the flooded areas. Other popular sights are Véu de Noiva, Independência, Andorinhas and other waterfalls, Mount São Jerônimo, House of Stone and City of Stone. Mato Grosso also has its own Marechal Rondon International Airport in Cuiaba. It is located only 10km from the city and serves more than 500,000 passengers.
